Independent LivingIndependent Living communities cater to seniors that are very independent, may have few or no medical problems. But may desire the secure community type living. Residents live in fully equipped private apartments. Apartment sizes may be available from studios to large two bedrooms. Fine dining services are offered with custom designed meals. Residents can choose to pay for a specified number of meals per day. There are frequent social outings and events to keep the senior busy by choice. Assisted LivingAssisted Living communities are for seniors who are no longer able to live safety on their own and do not need the level of care required by a nursing home. Senior receive assistance with their medication, activities of daily living, meals and housekeeping are provided in a central dining area. Residents live in their own private apartment. Staff are available 24 hours per day for additional safety. Most assisted living facilities provides license nursing services, social activites are scheduled and transportation is available. Nursing Home(Convalescent Homes, Nursing Centers, Long-Term Care Providers)24 hour skilled nursing is available for the frail seniors that require a high level of medical assistance. Licensed nurses provide the 24 hours assistance. Several nursing homes provide short-term rehabilitative stays for those recovering from any injury or illness. Long-term residents usually have higher care needs and more complicated medical needs that require routine skilled nursing services. Residents generally share their room and served meals in a central dining area unless they are too ill to participate. Activities are available. Some facilities have separate units for Alzheimer’s victims. Adult Homes(Personal Care Homes)Private homes with typically smaller number of residents who live together and receive 24 hours care from trained care-givers. These smaller homes have private rooms/ companion rooms, meals preparation, laundry and housekeeping and medication management. They have a homelike setting,they also provide assistance with daily activities; bathing, and dressing. Amenities vary. Respite CareRespite care provides a temporary break for caregivers by allowing a resident to have a short-term stay in a community that can meet their needs. Many assisted living facilities and nursing homes provide respite services. Residents stays can vary from several days to several months. They will receive all the services of the facility. It is a wonderful way to introduce your loved ones to communicable living.
